Why Coat It

Your clear coat is fighting the Midwest. And losing.

Every uncoated car in the Metro East is slowly being dulled by the same six things. A ceramic coating is a sacrificial glass-hard layer that takes the hit instead.

Midwest Road Salt

Illinois winters are brutal on paint. A ceramic coating seals the surface so salt and brine rinse off instead of eating in.

Sun & UV Fade

UV slowly burns the life out of your clear coat. Coated paint stays deeper and glossier for years, not months.

Bird Droppings & Bugs

Both are acidic enough to permanently etch bare clear coat in a single hot afternoon. A coating buys you time and easy cleanup.

Brake Dust & Road Grime

Contamination bonds to unprotected paint. On a coated car it sits on top — and slides off with a rinse.

Wash Swirls & Light Scratches

The hard ceramic layer takes the abuse your clear coat used to, so paint stays swirl-free far longer.

Water Spots & Staining

Water beads and sheets off instead of drying into mineral spots baked in by the sun.

Straight Answers

Ceramic coating FAQ.

What actually is a ceramic coating?

A liquid polymer applied by hand that chemically bonds to your paint and cures into a hard, glass-like layer over about 24 hours — during that first day the car just needs to stay dry and out of the rain. Once cured, unlike wax (weeks) or sealants (months), a professionally applied coating protects for years.

How long does a ceramic coating last?

Depends on the package: our Clay & Coat package carries a 1-year+ coating with a 1-year warranty, and our 3 Year Protection package carries a 3-year ceramic warranty. At your free paint inspection we’ll recommend the right level for how you actually use the car.

Why do I need a paint inspection first?

A coating locks in whatever is underneath it — including swirls and scratches. We inspect your paint first so we can quote the right amount of prep and correction. The inspection is free and there’s no obligation.

Will it stop rock chips and scratches?

Honest answer: no coating stops rock chips — anyone who says otherwise is selling you. It does resist light scratches, wash swirls, and chemical etching far better than bare clear coat.

Do I still have to wash my car?

Yes, but it becomes dramatically easier. Dirt doesn’t bond to the coating, so most grime rinses off, drying is faster, and you’ll never need to wax again.

Is it worth it on a daily driver, not just a show car?

Daily drivers arguably benefit the most — they face the salt, sun, and parking lots every day. A coating keeps a daily looking new with a fraction of the upkeep, and protects resale value.

Do I need shade or a garage for you to apply it?

Ceramic coating has to be applied out of direct sunlight, so during application the car needs to sit in a garage, carport, or a shaded spot. No garage? No problem — a well-shaded area works too, and we’ll figure out the best spot together when you book.

Do you really come to me?

Yes — we’re fully mobile across Belleville and the Metro East. Your car gets coated in your own driveway or workplace parking lot.
